General description: It is known in the Lower Volga Region only by reference of Ruzsky for the north of Volgograd region (1905, Kamyshin, as "Formica fusca gagates Latr" (by which he interpreted F. picea in the modern conception - Dlussky, 1967)). This is the southernmost of the species findings in European Russia. Specimens of the species collected later are not known in the region.
